Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, held a meeting with Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, today in Dushanbe.
Rustam Minnikhanov is currently in Dushanbe on a work-related visit.
"Despite the recent growth in our trade turnover, the volumes remain relatively small. We are committed to significantly increasing these figures," - Rustam Minnikhanov stated during the meeting. - "We are keen on expanding the presence of prominent Tatarstan-based companies in the Tajikistan market to enhance economic cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation."
According to the latest data for 2022, the foreign trade turnover between Tatarstan and Tajikistan surpassed $30 million. Efforts are concentrated on key sectors such as machinery, agriculture, and healthcare.
Rustam Minnikhanov highlighted the interest in exporting helicopters, petrochemical products, oil and gas equipment, halal products, among other goods to Tajikistan.
He also expressed gratitude to Emomali Rahmon for his support of the Tatar community in Tajikistan. According to available information, the Tatar population in Tajikistan numbers over 12,500 individuals.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon emphasized the significance of regional cooperation as an integral component of the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia.
He expressed his belief that Rustam Minnikhanov's visit would enhance and solidify the collaboration between Russia and Tajikistan.
