Russian and Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministers Sergei Ryabkov and Ali Bagheri at a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday expressed commitment to maintaining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Tehran's nuclear program.
"The focus was on the situation in the negotiations to restore full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to resolve the Iranian nuclear program (JCPOA). A commitment was expressed to preserve the JCPOA, the readiness to continue the necessary work on the Vienna platform in an intensive mode," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Tuesday.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov at a meeting with Iran's ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali stressed Moscow's determination to continue concentrated work.
The seventh round of talks within the framework of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Tehran's nuclear program ended on December 3 in the Austrian capital. The European participants returned to their countries for additional consultations before continuing the dialogue. According to Iranian media, the sides can resume talks as early as this week.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri, who leads the country's delegation to the talks in Vienna, said on December 2 that Tehran had submitted to the parties a draft agreement on the renewal of the nuclear deal in the form of two documents on the lifting of US sanctions and issues on the nuclear program.
