Saudi delegation at meeting at Russian Foreign Ministry did not take off their outerwear because of the cold weather

14 January 2021

Some members of the Saudi delegation were not ready for the Russian cold and even during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the Russian Foreign Ministry's Reception House on Spiridonovka Street, they preferred to wear coats.

The temperature in Moscow on January 14 dropped to 14 degrees below zero, in the morning the snow and blizzard did not stop. Of course, such weather is not the most usual for the representatives of Saudi Arabia. Two women from the kingdom's delegation kept their winter jackets and coats on while trying to keep warm during the talks.

"Are you cold? Really?", the Russian Minister asked them with a smile. They smiled back shyly but decided not to undress.

The male members of the delegation, headed by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, turned out to be more frostproof and wore dark and gold bishts (traditional cloaks) embroidered with gold threads and red ghutras (traditional headscarves) for the meeting.

Traditionally, Lavrov's meetings with his colleagues begin with protocol statements in the presence of the press, but this time the ministers were just filmed.
