The second batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine, Sputnik V, was sent to Tehran by plane on Friday, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali announced.
"The second batch of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, as promised by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Health, was delivered to the Iranian embassy on Thursday evening. On Friday it was sent to Tehran by a special flight," he was quoted as saying by IRNA news agency.
The first batch of Russian vaccines was delivered to Tehran on February 4.
On Tuesday, Iran launched a free voluntary vaccination against coronavirus using the Russian drug Sputnik V. The first step is to vaccinate workers in intensive care units. The next step will be to vaccinate other medical personnel and the elderly over 65. The Iranian-made vaccine is scheduled to be used in the country in April.
