Second batch of Sputnik V was delivered to Libya

The second batch of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V was delivered to Libya on Tuesday. This was reported by the local TV channel Libya Al Ahrar.



According to its information, the plane with the Russian drug arrived in the afternoon at Mitiga airport near the city of Tripoli.



According to the North African country's Health Ministry, several doses of vaccine will be taken for laboratory tests before Sputnik V is distributed on Libyan territory.



The first batch of the Russian drug was delivered to Libya in April, when the country launched a national vaccination campaign against the coronavirus, with priority given to people over 70, people with chronic diseases, and doctors involved in treating COVID-19 patients.



According to the latest data, about 190 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Libya with a population of about 6.7 million people, more than 3 thousand patients died from complications.
