The second meeting within the framework of the regional cooperation platform in the format "3+3" (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia - Russia, Turkey and Iran) can be held in Iran by the end of the year. This was announced by Seyyed Abbas Musavi, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
"This initiative (3+3 format - TASS) was very successful. We expect that the next meeting will be held before the end of the year already in Iran," Azerbaijani agency Report quoted the ambassador as saying on Monday. The diplomat added that the 3+3 format is "a good opportunity for regional countries to jointly implement various initiatives and coordinate their actions."
The initiative of the six-party format of cooperation in Transcaucasia was put forward by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Tayyip Erdogan. Russia and Iran welcomed the idea, Georgia stated that it does not plan to participate in this regional initiative, but offers its own format of negotiations to Baku and Yerevan to maintain peace in the form of "troika". On December 10, 2021, the first meeting of the regional consultative platform "3+3" at the level of deputy foreign ministers was held in Moscow. Georgia did not participate in it.
