Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss prospects for deepening cooperation in political, military, trade, economic, energy, humanitarian, space, and nuclear energy sectors, according to a TASS correspondent.

“Representatives from various Russian ministries and agencies have come as part of our delegation. We will discuss topics related to space and nuclear energy,” Shoigu said in his opening remarks.

The press service of Russia’s Security Council noted that political dialogue, military ties, trade and economic collaboration, energy partnerships, and humanitarian cooperation were key topics on the agenda.

During the meeting, Shoigu also read out a message from President Vladimir Putin, who conveyed his warm greetings and emphasized the traditionally friendly nature of Russia-Malaysia relations.

“By consolidating our efforts, we will further strengthen our bilateral ties,” Shoigu quoted from Putin’s message.
