Somali government troops conducted a successful operation in the central part of the country, resulting in the elimination of three regional commanders of the extremist group "al-Shabaab." This operation concluded on September 6 in the Western el-Lahelei region.
The Ministry of Information of Somalia reported that among those killed was Olola Ali Guled, the commander of al-Shabaab detachments in the state of Galmudug. Additionally, field commanders Shuke Ali Dig and Ise Barre were also eliminated during the operation.
This operation dealt a significant blow to the structures of al-Shabaab, which primarily operates in the central and southern regions of Somalia. Al-Shabaab was founded in Somalia in 2004 and is estimated to have up to 10,000 fighters.
