Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva has been awarded the Order of Friendship on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin "for her great contribution to strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding between peoples." Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko announced this on Friday.
"Let me fulfill the assignment of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and in such a solemn atmosphere present the Chairperson of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Kamalovna Narbayeva, with the Order of Friendship," Matviyenko said at a plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, which is now taking place in Samarkand.
The speaker of the Federation Council called Narbayeva a long-standing and sincere friend of Russia. "This high award serves as a worthy assessment of your tireless diligent work and recognition of your personal contribution to strengthening Russia-Uzbekistan cooperation," Matviyenko added.
