Special Representatives of Afghanistan's neighboring countries spoke out in favor of unfreezing its assets

Participants of the first meeting of special representatives of Afghanistan's neighbors called for unfreezing the country's financial assets in foreign banks, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatullah Irgashev said on Tuesday.


"The special envoys of Afghanistan's neighboring countries during their first meeting held in Tashkent called for the soonest unfreezing of the Afghan assets in the accounts of foreign banks which is necessary for overcoming the socio-economic crisis and improving the living conditions of millions of Afghans", said Irgashev at a briefing after the meeting. Nearly 25 million Afghans are undernourished and 6 million are starving, he said.


During the meeting in Tashkent, representatives from Uzbekistan, Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan will exchange views on the situation in Afghanistan, including the humanitarian aspect, human rights and education for women and girls, Irgashev added.
