Syria is developing pragmatic relations with Russia, stated Asaad al-Shaibani, Foreign Minister of Syria's interim government, during an address at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London.
"We are building pragmatic relations with Russia," the minister confirmed in remarks broadcast by Syria TV. He emphasized that Damascus has no intention of confronting Moscow, while also clarifying that Syria does not seek to "become part of any bloc" and remains committed to "building good relations and partnerships with all countries."
The statement follows interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa's working visit to Russia on October 15, where he held his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The 2.5-hour discussion focused on Damascus's desire to "reset" bilateral relations with Moscow.
