Syrian President to Announce New Government on March 29

27 March

Syria’s Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa is set to announce the country’s new government on Saturday, March 29, according to Al Hadath.

The new cabinet will replace the transitional government led by Mohammed al-Bashir since December 10. Sources cited by the news outlet indicate that the new administration will be inclusive, with a strong presence of technocrats. However, the current ministers of interior, foreign affairs, and defense are expected to retain their positions.

Al-Sharaa himself will oversee the government's operations, as the constitutional declaration adopted on March 13 grants him full executive authority.

Syria’s transitional period is set to last five years, after which general elections will be held. The country’s legal framework will be aligned with Islamic law.
