Tajikistan's Trade Turnover with Russia Surges by 9.8% in the First Seven Months of 2023

Tajikistan's trade volume with Russia surged by 9.8% during January-July 2023 in comparison to the same period in 2022, reaching $997.4 million. This figure stands as the highest among all other trading partners of the nation, as per the report from the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan, available to TASS.

 

The report reveals that imports from Russia to Tajikistan during this period totaled $907.6 million, while exports of goods from Tajikistan to Russia amounted to $89.7 million. Russia holds the distinction of being the primary foreign trade partner of Tajikistan among both CIS and non-CIS countries for January-July. The second largest foreign trade turnover among CIS countries was with Kazakhstan, amounting to $648.3 million during the first seven months of 2023, showing a decrease of 17.1% compared to the same period in 2022.

 

Among non-CIS nations, China maintained the highest trade turnover with Tajikistan for the initial seven months of this year, totaling $824.7 million, representing a growth of 7.6% in comparison to the same timeframe in 2022.

 

Foreign trade interactions between Tajikistan and Russia surpassed $1.67 billion in 2022. In June 2023, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin visited Tajikistan. Following his visit as co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission, he communicated the potential for further growth in trade turnover between the two nations.
