Zabihullah Mujahid, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information in the interim government of the radical Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) that seized power in Afghanistan, announced that he had held talks with Ismail Haniyeh, Head of the Palestinian Hamas Political Bureau. He posted a statement to this effect on his Twitter account on Wednesday.
The sides, as noted, discussed the situation in Afghanistan and Palestine.
During the meeting, Mujahid called the Palestinian issue "an issue for the entire Muslim community and expressed support for the Palestinians."
The Taliban launched a massive operation to take control of Afghanistan after the US announced in the spring of 2021 the decision to withdraw its military forces from there. On August 15, the radicals entered Kabul without a fight and on September 7 they announced the composition of the provisional government, whose legitimacy has not yet been recognized by any country.
