The interim government of Afghanistan created by the radical Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) which seized power in the country banned the broadcasting of radio stations Azadi (Radio Liberty, foreign agent in Russia) and Voice of America (foreign agent in Russia). This was reported Thursday by Afghanistan's Khaama Press Agency, citing a statement from the ministry of culture and information.
"The broadcasting of Radio Azadi and Voice of America "started after the American occupation and has now been shut down due to one-sided reporting and lack of journalistic ethics," the agency quoted Abdul Haq Hamad, head of the ministry's broadcast monitoring service, as saying. Broadcasting stopped on December 1.
