Taliban Invite Uzbekistan to Partner in Afghan Mining Ventures

10 July

The Taliban (banned in Russia) government in Afghanistan has invited Uzbekistan to participate in the development of its oil, gas, and copper deposits. This offer was made during a meeting between "acting Afghan Minister of Industry and Trade Nuriddin Azizi and Uzbek Minister of Mines and Geology Bobir Islamov," according to a statement from Russia's trade mission in Uzbekistan.

Azizi proposed Uzbek investment in copper deposits located in Ghazni and Herat provinces, as well as the establishment of mineral processing facilities within Afghanistan.

In response, Islamov suggested concluding an investment support agreement between the two countries. He also highlighted the establishment of two large copper processing plants in Uzbekistan, which are in urgent need of raw materials.

Following the meeting, it was decided that an Uzbek delegation would visit Afghanistan in the near future to conduct research and technical assessments.
