Tatarstan has invited representatives from Uzbekistan to participate in the international economic forum "Russia–Islamic World: Kazanforum" this coming May. The invitation was extended by Rustem Gainullov, Tatarstan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, during a joint conference organized by the Valdai International Discussion Club and Uzbekistan’s Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies.
The conference is currently being held in Surxondaryo Region, the southernmost part of Uzbekistan. This location is significant as Tatarstan and Surxondaryo established a formal cooperation agreement in 2023, and the event’s second day features a dedicated session titled "Surxondaryo–Tatarstan: Achievements and Potential for Interregional Cooperation."
"I would particularly like to highlight the active participation of Surxondaryo Region in the 'Russia–Islamic World: Kazanforum,'" Gainullov noted. "This year, the platform will open in May, and I would like to take this opportunity to invite you all to attend. For the past two years, by decree of President Vladimir Putin, the forum has held federal status. It is a premier venue for discovering new partners and securing new contracts."
The "Russia–Islamic World: Kazanforum" is scheduled to take place in Kazan from May 12 to 17, 2026.
