During a working visit to Ankara, Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Erdoğan opened the conversation by recalling his visit to Kazan for the BRICS summit and noted that his team had briefed him on the outcomes of the recent KazanForum, where Turkey was represented by a sizable delegation.
“I deeply respect your efforts within the Group of Strategic Vision 'Russia–Islamic World'. Your leadership has made a meaningful contribution to strengthening ties between Russia and the broader Islamic world,” Erdoğan remarked.
He went on to emphasize Tatarstan’s key role in bilateral economic relations, pointing out that over 25% of Turkey’s total investment in Russia is channeled into the republic.
For his part, Minnikhanov expressed gratitude for the Turkish President’s consistent support for regional cooperation and emphasized Tatarstan’s commitment to furthering joint initiatives.
The two leaders discussed the potential for expanding trade, which currently stands at approximately $5.3 billion. President Erdoğan also encouraged continued backing for joint Turkey-Tatarstan projects across various sectors.
