Tehran and Moscow May Sign Partnership Agreement in January 2025

23 December

The signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Moscow and Tehran is expected to take place in mid-January 2025. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed this during a press conference, which was broadcast live by SNN.

“During an upcoming bilateral meeting, this will be finalized. By the end of the month of Dey [the 10th month in the Iranian calendar, corresponding to December 21–January 19], God willing, this agreement will be signed,” Baghaei stated in response to a question about the timing of the agreement.

On December 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed optimism about signing a new fundamental agreement with Iran during an anticipated visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Russia. According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, while the exact date of President Pezeshkian's visit has yet to be determined, both Moscow and Tehran are committed to finalizing the strategic partnership agreement without delay.
