The Russian Security Council noted the danger of militants from Syria and Libya being sent to Nagorno Karabakh

Permanent members of the Russian Security Council at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the extreme danger in Nagorno-Karabakh due to the transfer of militants from Syria and Libya to the region, the press secretary of the president Dmitry Peskov announced this on Thursday.


"The participants of the meeting noted the extreme danger in the region due to the transfer of militants from Syria and Libya there," the presidential spokesperson said.

 

 

"At the meeting special attention was paid to the situation on the line of contact in Karabakh," Peskov said. "Extreme concern was again expressed about the ongoing battles," he added. "Vladimir Putin informed the meeting participants about the preparation of a joint statement on Nagorno-Karabakh by the presidents of Russia, the United States and France," the Kremlin representative said.


Work with neighboring states was also discussed, which, according to the president, "is one of the priorities of Russian foreign policy. In this context, the members of the Russian Security Council heard a report by Deputy Head of the Kremlin Administration Dmitry Kozak. They also talked about the current socio-economic agenda.


The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko, Deputy Head of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the Kremlin Administration Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev, Foreign and Interior Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Vladimir Kolokoltsev, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov and Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, as well as the Russian President's Special Representative for Environmental Protection, Environment and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
