President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree amending the Military doctrine of the republic. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the defense ministry.

The ministry reminded that the leader of the country stated about the necessity to reform the Military doctrine in his message on September 1, 2021. In particular, he issued a number of instructions to reform the armed forces, other troops and military units. At the same time, the president stressed that the strengthening of defense capabilities, increasing the responsiveness to threats should become priorities of national importance.

"The document reflects current conditions and factors affecting military threats and security. It includes new areas of activity in the military-political and military-strategic spheres, measures to systematize normative legal acts in the military sphere and the introduction of a system of military planning," the report said.

The defense ministry also noted that in order to increase the combat potential of the armed forces, the development of special operations forces and expansion of their interaction with special operations units of other state agencies is envisaged.

"The new wording of the Military doctrine allows the state's views on ensuring military security and defense to be adapted to modern requirements and conditions, and also increases the country's military potential to respond adequately to new threats and risks," the press service explained.
