President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Friday at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that it is the most successful international organization.
"The geography of the SCO process participants is expanding naturally from year to year. This is convincing evidence of the high demand for the organization. In my opinion, the SCO is the most successful international organization of all existing in the modern world," Tokayev said.
He noted that today the organization unites dynamically developing world economies with colossal human, resource and technological potential. "The SCO member-states account for about a quarter of the global volume of gross domestic product, i.e. more than $23 trillion, and we have at our disposal abundant reserves of energy resources, coal, rare metals and sources of renewable energy. The ideological and institutional basis of our organization is devoid of confrontation and bloc nature, which contributes to the growth of international authority and popularity of the SCO," stressed the president of Kazakhstan.
Military-political sphere
The president of Kazakhstan called on the SCO member-states to consolidate the cooperation in the military-political sphere between their respective agencies.
"We suggest enhancing cooperation in the politico-military sphere between defense agencies and special services. Strengthening cooperation between the SCO and the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center could play an important role here. Issues of fighting cybercrime for creation of infrastructure for protection of information space of the organization become especially urgent," he said.
The head of the state also noted that cooperation within the SCO will give a powerful impetus to the development of the association.
"We have to transform the SCO into a global economic platform. The ideological and institutional foundations of our organization are free of confrontation and blocs, which contributes to the growth of international authority and popularity of the SCO", the leader of Kazakhstan noted.
