Tokayev Discusses Cooperation Directions with Manturov Ahead of Visit to Russia

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov to discuss key directions of bilateral cooperation ahead of his upcoming visit to Russia. The Kazakh leader expressed conviction that the planned negotiations would be successful, according to his press service.

 

“During the meeting, the key directions of multifaceted bilateral cooperation were discussed in the context of the agenda of the Kazakh President's upcoming state visit to Moscow,” stated the press service release. “Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of the upcoming visit and expressed confidence that the negotiations will be successful.”

 

According to the information, Tokayev also “drew attention to the active and coordinated work of the two governments, thanks to which Russia consistently remains one of Kazakhstan's leading trade and economic partners.” Furthermore, he “recalled the agreement reached with Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase trade volume to $30 billion in the near term.”

 

 

The press service reported that Manturov, for his part, confirmed Moscow's readiness for “further deepening of bilateral cooperation.” He “noted that a solid foundation for developing joint projects has already been established between the countries, expressing confidence in their successful implementation.”

 

The Kazakh President's state visit to Russia is scheduled for November 12.

 

On Monday, Manturov's secretariat had announced his working visit to Kazakhstan, noting that his schedule included meetings with the country's leadership and chairing the 23rd meeting of the Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
