Kazakhstan, in its dialogue with Russia, operates based on the strategic and allied nature of their relationship. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized this while receiving Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"Russia is our key strategic partner and ally. Therefore, our relations with Russia are guided by this fundamental fact," - Tokayev stated. - "This was reaffirmed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit last November."
"Very important agreements were signed during that visit, and they are currently being implemented. I personally oversee this process," - Tokayev noted. - "I believe we must fully realize the agreements reached during that visit. Just recently, I had a phone conversation with President Putin. We exchanged views on the development of cooperation between our countries and reiterated the need for the proper implementation of all previously reached agreements."
Tokayev highlighted the successful development of bilateral trade, which has "reached a record figure of $27 billion, though this is not the ceiling." He also pointed out the active development of investment cooperation, which he personally oversees. "We regularly meet with representatives and key figures in Russian business. This is crucial, as mutual trust in investment cooperation is essential given the alliance between our countries."
The Kazakh president also congratulated Lavrov on his reappointment as Russian Foreign Minister. "Your personal role in the implementation of Russia's foreign policy is absolutely significant and, of course, unique," Tokayev added.
