In the current geopolitical environment, Kazakhstan must transition to a new level of cooperation with Central Asian countries and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), while maintaining oversight of projects with Russia, China, and the United States. This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during an expanded government meeting.
"In today's geopolitical realities, we need to move to a new level of cooperation with our closest neighbors (Central Asian countries and the EAEU), which will enhance the region's and Kazakhstan's competitive advantages. The government must develop a set of specific measures to strengthen mutually beneficial ties in industries such as manufacturing, transportation and logistics, the IT sector, agriculture, and other fields," Tokayev's press service quoted him as saying.
According to the Kazakh leader, special attention should also be given to overseeing the implementation of major investment projects with China, Russia, the United States, the EU, the Middle East, Asia, and other countries. Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan enjoys high trust on the global stage and is regarded as a "middle power." "However, this high status must be backed by tangible results not only in the political sphere but also through practical achievements in the fields of economy, investment, science, and technology," he explained.
Earlier in his address, Tokayev referred to sanctions and tariffs as a new reality of the global economy. "These trends carry serious consequences," the president noted.
