Tokayev noted the influence of Putin's policy on the strengthening of Russia's position in the world

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting in Nur-Sultan with Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko noted the influence of Russian President Vladimir Putin's policy on strengthening Russia's position in the world. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.


"Under the strong and authoritative leadership of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the Russian Federation has asserted itself on the international stage as a state that is reckoned with by all countries of the world and without which no key international problem finds its solution," Tokayev said.


He emphasized the role of legislative contacts in bringing Kazakhstan and Russia closer together. "I believe that parliamentary diplomacy plays an increasing role in the development of interstate cooperation, and this fully applies to the cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. For us, the relations of friendship, alliance are of paramount, priority importance," the President of Kazakhstan stressed.


During the meeting, they discussed the prospects for strengthening multifaceted Kazakh-Russian strategic partnership and alliance. The interlocutors touched upon topical issues of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Eurasian integration, as well as joint efforts of the two countries to counteract the pandemic.


For her part, Matvienko expressed gratitude to Tokayev for the opportunity to meet. "Before the trip, I spoke with Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. He asked me to give you his sincere greetings and his best wishes. He once again stressed that he highly appreciated your trustworthy and open relations. He confirmed that all the agreements reached would be implemented," the Speaker of the Federation Council said.


The delegation of the Federation Council is on a two-day official visit to Kazakhstan. The program of the trip includes meetings with the country's leadership and parliamentarians.
