The incumbent president of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev won the elections of the head of state held on Sunday in all regions of the country and gained 81.31% of the votes. Such preliminary data was announced at a briefing on Monday by Nurlan Abdirov, chairperson of the Central Election Commission of the republic.
"Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev [gets] 6,456,392 votes, or 81.31% of the vote," he said. Abdirov noted that these data were provided by the territorial commissions of the regions and the cities of Shymkent, Almaty and Astana.
Tokayev won 70.96% of the vote in the previous election of the head of state on June 9, 2019.
The rest of the votes were devided as follows:
Zhiguli Dayrabayev from the Auyl People's Patriotic Democratic Party - 3.42%
Meiram Kazhiken from Amanat Trade Unions - 2.53%
Karakat Abden from the National Alliance of Professional Social Workers - 2.60%
Saltanat Tursynbekova from the republican public association Kazakh mothers are a path to traditions - 2.12%
Nurlan Auesbayev from the Nationwide Social Democratic Party - 2.22%.
Voters' second most popular choice was "against everyone", with 5.8% of ballots.
On Sunday, extraordinary presidential elections were held in Kazakhstan. Six candidates, including the current president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ran for president. Turnout at the polls was 69.44%.
