Turkey Calls for Russia's Involvement in Peace Initiatives on Ukraine

25 September

All peace initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine must include both Moscow and Kiev, stated Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Speaking during a session at the Russian Federation Council, Kurtulmus emphasized that any peace efforts without the involvement of both parties are bound to fail.

“There can be no peace without both sides participating in dialogue,” Kurtulmus declared. He highlighted that resolving the Ukrainian conflict is impossible without Russia’s active role. “Therefore, all peace initiatives must include the active participation of both parties,” he reiterated.

The Turkish parliamentary speaker also expressed his country's opposition to Western sanctions imposed on Russia. “I believe we can confidently say that never in history have unilateral sanctions produced results. We condemn the use of sanctions against Russia as a lever of pressure to force the country to change its stance,” Kurtulmus remarked.
