Turkey continues to negotiate with Russia over the supply and production of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, the republic's Health Minister Fahrettin Koca told reporters at a press conference in Ankara on Monday.
"As you know, we have begun toxicological tests of the Sputnik V vaccine. The interim result looks positive. I have had three talks with my Russian counterpart in the last week, and we continue to discuss production and supply volumes of Sputnik V," he said.
Koca also asserted that "a small volume of Sputnik V could be delivered to Turkey within 4-5 months."
In late February, Koca stated that the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine would be ready for widespread use after toxicology studies were completed. He also announced the beginning of negotiations for supplies of the Russian vaccine. Koca reported the start of toxicological tests of Sputnik V on February 25.
On January 23 a representative of the RDIF told TASS that agreements had been reached with a leading Turkish pharmaceutical manufacturer to produce Sputnik V in Turkey. According to the representative, the process of technology transfer has begun.
