At the upcoming Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministerial meeting in Jeddah, Turkey plans to firmly reject any proposals for the forced relocation of Palestinians from Gaza, according to a source in Ankara’s Foreign Ministry, cited by TASS.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to deliver a clear message that Turkey will continue to defend Palestinians’ legitimate rights, particularly their right to self-determination. Any attempt to forcibly move Palestinians out of Gaza would not only be unacceptable but also a violation of international law, the source emphasized.
Fidan will also stress the urgent need to focus on Gaza’s reconstruction efforts and highlight the importance of pushing for broader international recognition of Palestine as an independent state. In Turkey’s view, securing a lasting ceasefire and ensuring uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza are also top priorities, the source added.
On February 4, US President Donald Trump, speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said Washington was considering long-term control over Gaza as part of efforts to promote peace in the Middle East. Trump also floated the idea of relocating Palestinians from Gaza to other countries in the region, suggesting those nations could cover the costs. The proposal sparked strong opposition from Arab states, Turkey, Iran, and even some Western governments.
