Turpal Autaev Appointed as Russian Consul General in Sharm el-Sheikh

Turpal Autaev has been officially appointed as the new Consul General of the Russian Federation in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the appointment in an official decree.


Born in 1981, Autaev is a seasoned diplomat who joined the foreign service in 2009. He is an alumnus of MGIMO University, graduating in 2007, and has since held various positions both within the Ministry's central apparatus in Moscow and at international posts. Prior to this appointment, he served as the First Secretary of the Department of the Middle East and North Africa from 2019 to 2020, and subsequently held the position of Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Egypt from 2020 to 2026. Autaev is awarded the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland," II degree, and the Medal "For Courage." He is a fluent Arabic and English speaker.
