UAE President Receives Kirill Dmitriev in Abu Dhabi

The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President's Special Representative for International Investment and Economic Cooperation and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), in Abu Dhabi.

 

According to a statement published by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the two parties addressed matters regarding cooperation and joint initiatives between the UAE and Russia. They specifically explored prospects for developing relations across various sectors, with a primary focus on economic and investment partnerships.

 

During the meeting, Dmitriev conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing gratitude to the Emirati leader for hosting the trilateral negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

 

The meeting follows the conclusion of the first phase of trilateral security consultations between representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, which began in Abu Dhabi on January 23. A second session took place on January 24. The Russian negotiating team was led by Igor Kostyukov, Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. Citing a US official, Reuters reported that the next round of negotiations is scheduled to commence in Abu Dhabi on February 1.
