The United Nations (UN) is making preparations for a forthcoming international meeting on Afghanistan in Doha, Qatar, and for the first time, leaders of the radical Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) will be invited to participate. This was announced on Thursday by Scott Smith, the representative of the UN Mission in Afghanistan, as reported by Ariana News.
Smith stated that the meeting is scheduled to take place by the end of this year. He also emphasized the UN's commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. The UN Mission in Afghanistan is actively working to foster mutual understanding and bridge the divide between the Taliban and the rest of the international community.
In response, Taliban spokesman Mawlawi Zakir expressed the movement's intention to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Afghanistan and the international community. The Taliban is open to dialogue and seeks to establish a constructive relationship. Zakir further highlighted the importance of lifting restrictions on the Afghan banking system and initiating joint social and economic projects.
