UN Secretary-General's Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations: GSV has huge potential in Islamic world

The annual meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" received an address from Miguel Ángel Moratinos, UN Secretary-General's Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations. It was read by Farit Mukhametshin, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the GSV "Russia-Islamic World", Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.


"The Group of Strategic Vision was created to promote the development and strengthening of relations between Russia and the Islamic world through intercultural and inter-civilization cooperation. One of the goals of this meeting is to form an effective program for the development of cultural and religious diversity," the greeting reads.


According to the UN Secretary-General's Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, the importance of dialogue and cooperation between countries and peoples in the world has increased, but at the same time tensions in society have become more acute. "It is now important to cooperate to maintain and strengthen peace and harmony in order to effectively address challenges through dialogue and mutual understanding. In this regard, the Group of Strategic Vision is well positioned to tap into its vast potential for concrete initiatives that will have an impact on society. We, in turn, are ready to share our own experience and expertise," concludes Miguel Ángel Moratinos.
