The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has raised alarm over a critical food crisis in Gaza, citing Israel’s continued blockade of humanitarian aid deliveries.
According to a statement published by WFP on X, no food has entered Gaza since March 2, as all border crossings remain closed for both humanitarian and commercial supplies.
The 15-day total blockade has led to a sharp increase in food prices, with some essential products rising by more than 200%.
In January 2025, Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas agreed to a ceasefire mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. However, on March 2, Israel blocked humanitarian aid deliveries and closed all border crossings, citing Hamas’s refusal to accept a ceasefire proposal presented by US Envoy Steve Witkoff.
