UNICEF: 2,100 Children Killed or Injured in Middle East Conflict

24 March

At least 2,100 children have been killed or wounded since the start of the US and Israeli military operation against Iran, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban reported on March 23.

"Over the twenty-three days of this escalating conflict in the Middle East, children across the region have felt its devastating impact. More than 2,100 children have been killed or injured, including 206 in Iran and 118 in Lebanon. Additionally, four children were killed in Israel and one in Kuwait," he stated during a briefing, warning that the death toll will only continue to rise if hostilities do not cease.

Chaiban emphasized that, on average, 87 children are killed or wounded every single day since the war began. He further noted that the fighting has decimated the very foundations of children's well-being, with homes, schools, and hospitals among the critical infrastructure destroyed or damaged.
