Ushakov: Putin and Rahmon Discussed the Situation in Afghanistan

09 October

Russian and Tajik Presidents Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon discussed the current security situation in the Middle East region during their personal meeting. The talks specifically addressed the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East settlement, taking into account the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. This was stated by the Russian leader's aide, Yuri Ushakov.

"First and foremost, our president and the president of Tajikistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan—it is, of course, a country that shares a border with Tajikistan," the Kremlin representative noted in a comment to Channel One.

Additionally, according to Ushakov, the discussion also covered developments in the Middle East in light of the implementation of the Trump-proposed settlement plan for the Gaza Strip.
