The countries within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) maintain effective cooperation in the field of migration. However, the emergence of new challenges necessitates more adaptable solutions for managing the flow of migrants. This was emphasized by Shavkat Rakhmonov, the First Deputy Interior Minister of Uzbekistan.
"In recent years, our collective efforts and collaboration have yielded significant accomplishments in the realm of migration management and the safeguarding of migrants' rights. Nevertheless, we are confronted with an intricate challenge and ongoing developments in the world, as well as shifts in society, demand more adaptable and efficient solutions from us," Rakhmonov stated during the 27th meeting of the Council of Heads of Migration Authorities of CIS countries in Tashkent.
He pointed out that in recent years, CIS countries have successfully collaborated in devising agreements and mechanisms for cooperation in safeguarding and assisting migrants, facilitating their social adaptation and integration, and combatting illegal migration and human trafficking.
"New technologies and evolving international relations introduce new dimensions to migration that we must learn to address," emphasized Rakhmonov. He highlighted that during the event taking place in the Uzbek capital, participants have the opportunity to exchange experiences and develop a fresh migration management strategy that considers these new circumstances.
According to Rakhmonov, participants in the event in the capital of Uzbekistan can share their experiences and formulate a new migration management strategy that takes into account emerging conditions.
Reports on the migration situation in the CIS countries and the progress of the Commonwealth's program for cooperation in combating illegal migration for 2019-2023 are expected to be discussed during the current meeting. The council meeting also intends to facilitate the exchange of experiences in detecting document falsification methods, conducting operations to combat illegal migration, and exploring digital transformation in document management within the realm of migration services. Additionally, changes in national legislation pertaining to this specialized field and law enforcement practices among migration authorities of Commonwealth countries will be addressed.
