Uzbekistan approves protocol on setting up security commission with Pakistan

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved a protocol on the creation of a joint security commission with Pakistan. The Uzbek leader's decree was published on the website of the National Legislation Base Lex.uz on Friday. 

 

"To approve the protocol between the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the establishment of a security commission," the document reads. It is noted that in accordance with the decree, the republic's foreign ministry will notify the Pakistani side that Uzbekistan has completed the domestic procedures necessary for the protocol to enter into force. 

 

Earlier, it was reported that the protocol was signed in Islamabad in November last year. 

 

The document envisages regular consultations of the Security Councils of Uzbekistan and Pakistan in order to coordinate and interact with the competent bodies of the two countries.
