Russian foreign minister's special representative Vladimir Safronkov discussed by telephone with US undersecretary of state Heidi Amr on Thursday issues of cooperation between the two countries in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.
"Possible areas of further cooperation between Moscow and Washington in the sphere of Palestinian-Israeli settlement were discussed both in the bilateral format and within the framework of the Middle East Quartet of international mediators comprising Russia, the US, the UN and the EU," the statement said.
A teleconference of the special representatives of the Middle East Quartet took place on July 15, 2021, during which Russia stood for the necessity of the soonest formation of the conditions for resetting the direct Palestinian-Israeli political dialogue. The parties agreed on the importance of urgently restoring civilian infrastructure and improving the socio-economic situation both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
