Volodin and CSTO PA Delegation Heads Lay Flowers at Eternal Flame in Bishkek

19 May

Chairman of the State Duma and head of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Vyacheslav Volodin, along with the heads of delegations from the national parliaments of CSTO member states, honored the memory of Kyrgyz citizens who died during the Great Patriotic War. This was reported by the State Duma press service.

"The parliamentarians laid a wreath and flowers at the Eternal Flame on Victory Square in Bishkek. The participants also observed a minute of silence to pay tribute to the fallen," the statement said.

The ceremony took place ahead of a CSTO PA Council meeting, which is being chaired by Volodin in Bishkek.

Volodin previously noted that more than 360,000 residents of Kyrgyzstan fought in the Great Patriotic War, and the republic was also one of the main evacuation centers. During the war, some 16,000 people, including 3,500 children, were evacuated from besieged Leningrad to Kyrgyzstan.
