The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on the international community for urgent action to save children in Afghanistan. This is according to the message posted Monday on the organization's Twitter account.
"Did you know that approximately 167 babies die every day in Afghanistan due to preventable causes of infant mortality?" - the WHO noted. - "We must act quickly to save lives and improve maternal and child health."
On April 16, the WHO reported that nearly half of the forty million people in Afghanistan are at risk of malnutrition, infectious diseases and other health problems due to severe food shortages. And about 40 percent of Afghanistan's population is under the age of 14.
