Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to participate in the 15th Middle East Conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club on February 9, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing.
The diplomat noted that the event takes place against the backdrop of a rapidly shifting landscape across the Middle East and North Africa. The primary focus will be on resolving the region's most pressing crises, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as well as the ongoing situations in Syria, Sudan, Yemen, and other volatile hotspots.
Zakharova specified that the conference will bring together a distinguished group of Russian and international experts. The chosen theme for this year's forum is "Continuity and Novelty: The Middle East Amid a Collapsed World Order."
