Russia views the ongoing stabilization of the situation in Iran with satisfaction, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
"We note with satisfaction the continuing normalization of the situation in Iran following the externally inspired unrest and acts of defiance recorded during the first days of the New Year," Zakharova stated during a press briefing. "It is evident that these events were not only instigated but also funded from abroad. The efforts of the authorities to maintain law and order — and, crucially, the mass demonstrations by Iranian citizens in support of the constitutional order and national sovereignty — have thwarted destructive plans for destabilization."
The diplomat added that "hostile foreign forces" attempting to implement a "color revolution" in the Islamic Republic have been forced to acknowledge the failure of their efforts. "The blood spilled on Iranian streets is on their conscience," she remarked.
Zakharova reaffirmed Russia’s solidarity with the Iranian people, offering "sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured."
The Spokeswoman emphasized that Moscow remains in "constant and close contact" with its Iranian partners, who continue to share their assessments of the evolving situation.
"Russia consistently advocates for the de-escalation of tensions surrounding Iran and the wider region," Zakharova stressed. "We strongly urge all involved parties to refrain from rash or reckless actions that would undermine the prospects for a sustainable resolution in the interests of international and regional peace and security."
She concluded by stating that Russia remains firmly convinced that "abandoning confrontational approaches in favor of a mutually respectful and equal dialogue" is the only way to reach an acceptable outcome for all stakeholders. "We stand ready to facilitate this process in every possible way," she added.
