Russia stands ready to contribute to reducing tensions in Afghanistan-Pakistan relations and to promote lasting regional peace, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated during a briefing on Thursday.
"We call on Kabul and Islamabad to resolve any differences exclusively through political-diplomatic means and peaceful methods," the diplomat emphasized. "Russia has relevant experience and remains prepared to contribute to peace efforts, provided the conflicting parties request such assistance."
Addressing the regional situation, Zakharova noted that the ongoing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan "remain a concern not only for Russia but, judging by statements from world capitals, for the entire international community." She affirmed that "Russia shares this position with its partners."
