The United States and Israel are driving the Middle East deeper into an "abyss of chaos" through reckless and lawless military actions, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing.
"Through their irresponsible and reckless actions, Washington and Tel Aviv are engaging in what I will call — perhaps not in strictly legal terms, but in a way that accurately describes the reality — pure lawlessness," Zakharova stated. She accused both nations of "grossly trampling upon the norms and principles of international and humanitarian law" and argued that their behavior is systematically destabilizing the Middle Eastern region.
The diplomat emphasized that the international community has a responsibility to provide an "objective and uncompromising assessment" of these developments.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran. Strikes were directed at major urban centers, including Tehran, with the White House citing imminent missile and nuclear threats as the justification for the intervention. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps initiated a wide-ranging retaliatory campaign, striking targets within Israel as well as United States military and logistical assets located in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
