Abbas: Nearly 90% of Gaza's Infrastructure Destroyed by Israeli Actions

03 October

Nearly 90% of all infrastructure in the blockaded Gaza Strip has been destroyed due to Israeli military operations, according to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Speaking at the third summit of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Doha, Abbas emphasized the severe damage inflicted on Gaza.

“The ongoing Israeli aggression has led to the destruction of approximately 90% of Gaza's infrastructure,” the Palestinian leader said, adding that nearly all sports facilities in the enclave have also been demolished by Israeli forces.

Abbas strongly condemned the bombings carried out by Israel, not only in Gaza but also in southern Lebanon and the Lebanese capital, Beirut. He urged the international community to “immediately intervene in the events in Gaza and southern Lebanon to stop Israeli aggression and prevent further bloodshed.”

The Asia Cooperation Dialogue was established in June 2002, initiated by Thailand, and includes 35 member countries. The group's main aim is to serve as a platform connecting various Asian multilateral organizations and to foster regional socio-economic cooperation. Since September 2023, Iran has chaired the group, with Thailand set to take over in 2025.
