Russia expects to restore direct air links between Moscow and Muscat in the near future, Russian Ambassador to Oman Ilya Morgunov said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper published on Monday.
"We expect to resume in the near future direct air communication between Moscow and Muscat by the Omani national carrier. Then the tourist flow from Russia will significantly increase. But even for this it is necessary to take a number of measures on the part of our some departments. We hope that the negotiations will be resumed in Moscow in the second half of May this year," the ambassador said.
Previously Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after negotiations with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman Badr bin Hamad bin Hamud al-Busaidi reported on the plans of Russia and Oman to complete the work for introduction of visa-free regime.
