Al-Azhar University Delegation Visits Religious Board of Muslims of Tatarstan

On August 29, a delegation from Egypt’s Al-Azhar University, led by Rector Salama Dawood, visited the residence of the Religious Board of Muslims of Tatarstan (RBM RT). The group included Vice President Mahmoud Hassan Abdelnabi, Director of International Cooperation and Education Quality Yasser Helmy, Coordinator for International Cooperation between Al-Azhar University and Russia Amr Bassiouny, Rector’s Advisor on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mohamed Galal Farghaly, and Sheikh Al-Azhar’s Advisor on Cultural and Scientific Affairs Abdeldayem Mohammed Abdelrahman.

 

The meeting also included Marat Gatin, aide to the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan and Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World.”

 

The guests were welcomed by Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Hazrat Samigullin, who gave them a tour of the RBM RT complex, the Galeev Mosque, and the “Muhammadiya” madrasa.

 

During the meeting, Mufti Kamil Hazrat introduced the delegation to the history of Islam in Tatarstan, the spiritual heritage of the Tatar people, and the diverse activities of RBM RT, including the “Khuzur” publishing house, educational and charitable projects, and more.

 

Special attention was given to the RBM RT’s handwritten Quran project, which holds particular significance for Russian Muslims as the first modern, domestically produced handwritten Mushaf.

 

As part of their visit to Tatarstan, the Al-Azhar delegation also toured the Bolgar Islamic Academy.

 

 

In commemoration of the visit, Mufti Kamil Hazrat presented the guests with a reprint edition of the “Kazan basmasy” (“Kazan Printing”) Quran.
