10 March 2022

The upcoming Arab League (LAS) summit is scheduled to be held on November 1-2, 2022 in Algiers. This was announced on Wednesday in Cairo by Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra. He attended the 157th session of the LAS Council at the level of foreign ministers.

"The president of the republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is making sure that preparations for the Arab summit, scheduled for November 1 and 2, are going well," the Algeria Press Service news agency quoted Lamamra as saying.

"Algeria, which remains firmly committed to the interests of the Arab nation, will continue its efforts together with its brothers to strengthen joint Arab action, especially ahead of the Arab summit in the glorious month of November," the minister said.

Lamamra also calls for reactivating the Arab Peace Initiative and mobilizing international support to protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

"The Palestinian issue is going through one of its most difficult moments. Algeria calls to reactivate the Arab Peace Initiative and mobilize more international support for this issue to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and guarantee the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital," Lamamra said.

He also stressed that "Algeria is in favor of the need to achieve Palestinian national unity".
